Dr. Ratnam has led multiple funded research projects from agencies including DST, SERB, ISRO, UGC, and the Department of Telecom, securing grants over two crores. Recent projects include a DST-funded effort on data fusion and deep learning for geospatial positioning in the 5G era (September 2024, 21.38 lakhs) and an ISRO project on ionospheric traveling disturbances data mining and machine learning models for GAGAN-NAVIC TEC measurements (January 2025, 24.67 lakhs). He has authored over 100 journal papers in outlets such as IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, and Advances in Space Research, alongside 50 conference papers and seven patents.
