Rate My Professor Henry Bawden

Bawden contributes to institutional assessment as a member of the Art, Media & Design group on the Business and Engineering Technologies/Information Systems Technology Division Assessment Committee. In November 2017, he appeared on WOSU Public Media's All Sides Considered Tech Tuesday with adjunct instructor Chris Volpe to address the rapid growth of the video game industry and Columbus State Community College's specialized programs. Bawden also provided commentary for the September 2017 Columbus CEO magazine article on local game industry development initiatives in central Ohio. At the 2018 Game Developers Conference Educators Summit, he presented 'Disabilities: Helping Students Survive and Thrive,' detailing best practices such as hyper-rapid iteration, team pairing strategies, supportive cohorts, and lifelong networks for students with autism, Asperger's, Tourette's, and other conditions in game development education. Bawden has further engaged the community through speaking at the Shawnee Game Conference, Techstars Startup Week Columbus 2018, and involvement with the Ohio Game Developers Association board since organizing GDEX in 2013. His dual role in academia and industry, including freelance game art since 2006 and Bawden Studio founded in 2005, underscores his influence in advancing arts and culture via video game design and animation.
