About Howgen

Dr. Howgen Kesuma is a Lecturer in the Malaysia School of Engineering at Monash University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash University Malaysia, awarded on 26 October 2022, based on his thesis 'Investigations into One Port SAW Resonator Sensors: Design, Analysis, and Fabrication.' He previously obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) in Mechatronics Engineering from Monash University Malaysia on 11 November 2017. Dr. Kesuma's research focuses on sensors, biosensors, photolithography, surface acoustic waves, and MEMS. His contributions include key publications such as 'Advancements in one-port Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) resonators for sensing applications: A review' (IEEE Sensors Journal, 2024, with C.K. Kent and N. Ramakrishnan), 'Graphene Oxide Coated QCM Sensor Module for Wireless and Batteryless Humidity Sensing' (IEEE Sensors Journal, 2025, with D.D.J. Sinhalathilakage et al.), 'Quartz Crystal Microbalance Tag Apparatus for Wireless Mass Sensing Applications' (IEEE Sensors Letters, 2025), 'Mass loading characteristics of one-port SAW resonator with sensing film attached reflector electrodes' (IEEE Sensors Letters, 2023), 'Extraction of attenuation parameter in periodic shorted reflectors of one-port SAW resonator using scattering matrix approach' (IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2023), and 'Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in wastewater: Recent advances in detection and quantification' (Microchemical Journal, 2023).
