About Liangzi

Liangzi Deng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Houston and is affiliated with the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TcSUH). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Houston. Deng’s research centers on experimental condensed matter physics, with emphasis on superconductivity, magnetism, and topology. His work explores methods to retain at ambient pressure the high superconducting transition temperatures initially achieved under high pressure in certain materials, including the development of a pressure-quench protocol. He also investigates novel properties induced under extreme conditions, synthesizes new superconductors and topological materials, and designs tools to accelerate the discovery of quantum materials. Deng collaborates with students and researchers to advance understanding of high-temperature and room-temperature superconductivity and related applications.
