About Sudha

Associate Professor Sudha Mokkapati serves in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University, where she joined in 2019. She completed her PhD in Physics at the Australian National University in 2008, with a thesis titled "Selective area epitaxy of (In)GaAs quantum dots for monolithic integration of optoelectronic devices." Earlier, she earned an M.Tech in Materials Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2001 and an M.Sc in Physics from the University of Hyderabad in 1999. Following her doctorate, Mokkapati worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems at the Australian National University starting in 2008, developing photon management strategies for thin film solar cells based on amorphous silicon, crystalline silicon, and III-V quantum-dot absorbers. She then held positions as a Super Science Fellow and Research Fellow at the Research School of Physics and Engineering from 2012 to 2016, focusing on nanowire optoelectronic devices. Prior to Monash, she was a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University from 2016 to early 2019.
