Edward V. Appleton

Sir Edward Victor Appleton was a British physicist. He was awarded the 1947 Nobel Prize in Physics for his investigations of the physics of the upper atmosphere, especially the discovery of the Appleton layer. He was affiliated with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in the United Kingdom.
