Professional bio
Michael Smith was a British-born Canadian biochemist and molecular biologist. He shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Kary B. Mullis for his fundamental contributions to the establishment of oligonucleotide-based, site-directed mutagenesis and its development for protein studies. He was affiliated with the University of British Columbia.
