St Hugh’s College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1886, we are an independent, self-governing institution and registered charity, with a proud history and a strong commitment to providing an excellent education within a friendly, inclusive and progressive community.

With around 850 students, more than 80 Fellows and over 70 lecturers, St Hugh’s is one of Oxford’s larger colleges. We are committed to developing an outstanding working environment and aspire to be the best employer in the collegiate University.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Academic Registrar to lead the College’s Academic Office and oversee the effective delivery and continuous improvement of academic administration.

Reporting to the Senior Tutor, you will play a central role in ensuring that the systems, processes and support underpinning the academic life of the College are effective, accurate and compliant with College and University requirements.

You will oversee the student academic lifecycle, from admissions and registration through to assessments and graduation, alongside the administration of academic appointments and fellowships. You will work closely with the Senior Tutor, Fellows, tutors, College colleagues and the wider University to support students’ academic progress and achievement and ensure that the Academic Office provides a high-quality, responsive service.

This is a varied role combining operational leadership, detailed knowledge of the University’s academic framework, people management and the ability to resolve complex administrative issues. You will also represent the College in relevant University and collegiate forums, contributing to the continued improvement of academic processes.
