Job Description
The Agribusiness Adjunct is a part-time position. Under the direction of the Department Chair, the adjunct provides quality learning opportunities in the School of Arts and Sciences. Courses may include Sustainable Agriculture, Soil Science, Biological Pest Management, Animal Science, Farm Business Management, and Agricultural Marketing.
Classes may be offered in asynchronous and / or synchronous modalities. Synchronous teaching assignments may be scheduled at the Monroe campus, Polkton campus, or online, with flexible scheduling options throughout the daytime, evening, and weekend based on departmental needs and instructor availability.
Essential Duties Summary
- Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to South Piedmont Community College as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
Customize and facilitate curriculum using effective learning strategies, syllabi, and materials that promote successful teaching and learningFacilitate learning through online, hybrid, and / or classroom activities designed to support student success where applicableAccess and return student work with feedback in a timely mannerInform students of their grades and progress in the courseActively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levelsCreate, select, and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks and library resources which meet college accessibility guidelinesStay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theoryDemonstrate a high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plansContinue professional development for the improvement of self and the programProvide accessibility to students and colleaguesMaintain and submit all required class records and/or reports on timeAccept teaching assignments based on departmental need and instructor availabilityPerform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Agriculture OR a completed Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Agriculture
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications
- Community college teaching experience
- Online teaching experience
- Familiarity with a course learning management system such as Canvas
- Working knowledge/utilization of Microsoft Office products
