Overview

This Applied Economics programme offered by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona focuses on the development of rigorous applied economic research, combining theoretical knowledge with advanced quantitative and methodological tools. It supports the production of original, high-quality research that contributes to major debates within the field of economics.

The academic environment brings together a faculty with strong international recognition and collaboration with external institutions, enabling participation in joint research initiatives and co-supervised projects. Candidates engage with a broad range of topics, including macroeconomic policy, labour markets, industrial organisation, regional development, and environmental economics, within an internationally oriented research setting.

Each candidate is assigned a thesis director responsible for guiding the research project, ensuring its scientific rigor and alignment with established research lines.
