Position Description
The Department of Mathematics at Texas State University is seeking to hire a tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor with tenure, with a research specialization in topology, starting Fall 2027.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a high-quality research program in topology. The candidate must also be dedicated to the teaching and mentoring of students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, the candidate will be expected to be actively engaged in service to the department, college, university, and mathematical community.
The Department of Mathematics is a growing department with a broad range of strengths in Analysis, Topology, Algebra, Combinatorics, and Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Logic, and Mathematics Education. The department started its new Ph.D. program in Mathematics in Fall 2025 to complement its Ph.D. program in Mathematics Education and its master's programs. The faculty has over $3 million in active grants, including multiple NSF CAREER awardees (one faculty working in topology). The Department strives to create a welcoming environment that invites students from a wide range of backgrounds to major in mathematics, statistics, and data science. We invite applicants who are enthusiastic about mentoring students at the undergraduate and graduate levels to reach their potential. The Department is dedicated to the success of its junior faculty, providing support through formal mentoring, reduced teaching and service loads, collaboration and collegiality, and opportunities to participate in university-wide professional development programs.
