UCI invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position to join the faculty of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine.
Ideal applicants will employ rigorous molecular, cellular, circuit, systems, computation, organoid, or behavioral approaches to understand the biological bases of behavior and its disorders, and conduct research that integrates modern neuroscience techniques with conceptually innovative questions. We are specifically interested in candidates whose work addresses addiction and related disorders, including the intersection of social environment with drug use and/or the comorbidity of drug use with other conditions, such as psychiatric disorders, metabolic disease, or infectious disease.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s) and demonstrate evidence for a rigorous research program based on prior research productivity and future research plans. Evidence of securing prior extramural funding will be evaluated positively. Applicants are expected to contribute to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and demonstrate a commitment to service and leadership at UCI and wider communities.
Please submit a curriculum vitae, 3-page description of research interests and accomplishments, 1-page statement of teaching and mentoring experience, and the contact details for three referees. Information on the department is available at: Neurobiology, UC Irvine Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences
The successful candidate will be able to leverage and complement existing strengths of the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior, as well as the UCI neuroscience research community including the Irvine Center for Addiction Neuroscience (ICAN), Center for the Study of Cannabis, Institute for Translational Depression Discoveries, Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Center, UCI Conte Center, Center for Neural Circuit Mapping, Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders, Center for Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, and the Institute for Precision Health.
