Anderson University recognizes three paths for faculty employment: annual appointment, professional path, and tenure track. Faculty hired for annual appointments are evaluated on mission fit, and teaching and learning. They begin employment at the rank of instructor with the opportunity to be promoted to senior lecturer. Faculty in the Professional Path focus on teaching and learning and are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, and service; and they are able to be promoted through professorial ranks. After six years of exemplary service, faculty on the Professional Path become eligible for multi-year contracts. Faculty on tenure track focus initially on teaching and learning, but they are evaluated on mission fit, teaching and learning, service, and scholarship. Tenure-track faculty promote through professorial ranks and are eligible for tenure status in year six.
