About the Job

The Department of Medicine is seeking an infectious disease specialist in the Academic Clinical emphasis track to join the faculty of the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine (IDIM) at the University of Minnesota.

The mission statement of IDIM: We are united in our commitment to transforming our field through exceptional clinical care, pioneering research, and comprehensive medical education. Guided by our core values of respect, compassion, equity, and collaboration, we strive for healthy individuals and communities in Minnesota and across the globe.
Individuals likely to thrive in our division are knowledgeable clinicians that provide excellent patient care. We honor knowledge via multiple mechanisms, including one's own lived experience. Additional attributes conducive to success in our division are excellent interpersonal communication skills, enthusiasm for medical education and strong teaching skills, and leadership potential.

IDIM aligns with the UMN Department of Medicine in our commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion as an essential strategy to support all members of our academic community: faculty, trainees, staff, and the patients and communities we serve. We strive for a culture of inclusive excellence in which our commitment to the core values of equity and diversity are reflected in all of our clinical care, research, education, and service activities. Applicants should demonstrate skill in understanding cultural differences, support and enhance a sense of inclusivity, and ideally have experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. We welcome applications from women, underrepresented minorities, persons with disabilities, sexual minority groups, and other candidates who will contribute to the diversification and enrichment of ideas and perspectives.

The clinical duties for this position will involve both General and Transplant; inpatient and outpatient clinical care at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview. The allocation between General and Transplant will be determined based on experience and expertise of the individual candidate, in addition to the division's current need. These clinical duties include staffing Eastbank and Westbank consult services and seeing outpatients referred to the Infectious Diseases clinic. Other duties may involve staffing the inpatient telemedicine general infectious disease consult service, and staffing the antibiotic management team services.

Educational responsibilities will include teaching students and residents who rotate on the infectious diseases consult service and may include staffing the infectious diseases fellows' clinic.
