Overview
About the programme
Chemistry research at Uppsala University is conducted on two different campuses (Ångström and BMC) where each department has its own research focus:
The Department of Chemistry – BMC:
- The general theme of research is the synthesis and analysis of molecules and their assemblies, in order to understand their structural and chemical features, and their implications in life science and technology.
- Synthesis and characterization using advanced analytical and biophysical methods are important thematic areas of interest for all research programmes, while molecular recognition is a common theme to many groups.
The Department of Chemistry – Ångström:
- At Ångström, one of the research fields within chemistry is focused on the development of renewable energy sources and energy carriers. This area occupies a special position in Uppsala and includes solar cells, artificial photosynthesis, hydrogen production, fuel cells, biofuels from biomass and smarter batteries.
- World-leading research collaborative projects map the structure of metals and chemical compounds, including those with unique catalytic activity, electrical conductivity, and the ability to store energy, contributing to future sustainable energy systems.
