They should have an active research program that is funded through federal agencies and/or industry for patient-based clinical research, while they may also have a more translational laboratory-based research program as well. Applications from investigators using innovative contemporary approaches to study human cardiovascular and/or cardiometabolic function in health and disease with inclusion of clinical research trials are welcomed. The faculty member will join 45 other faculty led teams at the FBRI, including 8 cardiovascular research teams, 4 exercise medicine research teams and additional groups working on dietary-metabolic health. The primary responsibility for the position is to lead a strong extramurally funded leading-edge clinical research program in cardiovascular and/or cardiometabolic science with some time devoted to patient care with our clinical partner, Carilion Clinic (https://www.carilionclinic.org/heart) and will include some research mentoring of graduate and medical students as well as fellows.
