Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing

The lecturer will join a curriculum development team to research and develop modules/programmes as appropriate. The lecturer will be expected to develop ‘best practice’ pedagogic methods that enhance the student’s learning. The teaching emphasis is on the development of relevant skills through the use of industry standard practices. 

Part of the lectureship responsibility involves research, and it is expected that the successful candidate will bring a strong interest and capacity for research, supervision (undergraduate and postgraduate level) and participate in strengthening the existing research teams.  

The post-holder will be responsible to the Head of Department of Nursing, Healthcare, ATU Donegal.  

Essential Qualifications

• Actively registered on the Mental Health Nursing Register of Nurses and Midwives as maintained by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) - or be eligible to be so registered.

• An NQAI Level 8 Mental Health nursing qualification or equivalent from a recognised degree awarding body. The programme followed should have involved the study of the art and science of nursing.

• A Master’s Degree in a relevant Level 9 Programme [as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)] or equivalent.

• Three years relevant post-qualification experience.

• Expertise in mental health specialist care of nursing.

• The recommended candidate must also pass a medical examination prior to taking up duty.
