Locksmith II

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys, pattern, and code numbers. Maintains record to whom the key was released.
• Installs, maintains, adjusts, services, and recombines all types of locks, locking devices, and related equipment.
• Opens locks for which there are no keys or existing combinations.
• Repairs, resets, and installs locking devices.
• Repairs doors, including electric doors, and door closers in University buildings; repairing or replacing windows or door glass.
• Reads procedures, manuals, and guidelines; processes work orders and key requests.
• Installs street signs.
• Fabricates numerous sizes and shapes of engraved signs using the engraving machine and various types of engraving material.
• Hangs pictures, mirrors, and maps in offices and buildings.
• Moves from building to building on campus.
• Performs related work as required.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years of experience as a locksmith working with a variety of types of hardware required.
