Job Summary
FGCU is seeking an experienced and friendly driving professional
for the important position of the Welcome Center OPS Bus Driver.
The bus driver will be responsible for assisting tour guides in
driving tour groups and guests around campus; arranging for
maintenance on the vehicle; performing daily vehicle checks; as
well as other duties aligned with the position.
Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Assists tour guides in driving tour groups and guests around
campus.
- Arranges maintenance of the vehicle.
- Performs daily vehicle checks.
- Maintains vehicle logs.
- Drives bus to transport visitors needing accommodations.
- Operates ADA equipment and tie downs.
- Maintains cleanliness of the bus.
Other Duties:
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience driving a vehicle.
- Possess valid Florida Class B driver's license with passenger
endorsement or obtain before start date.
Knowledge of how buses function, including braking systems,
steering, and emergency procedures
Understanding of local, state, and federal transportation laws
and ability to comply with those laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous shuttle/bus driving experience.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in operating large vehicles in various traffic and
weather conditions.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication
skills.
- Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and
reports.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to unexpected
situations.
- Ability to represent the university in a positive and
professional manner.
- Ability to exercise good judgement.
- Possess the knowledge of general written standards and
procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and
follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and
direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with
stated policies.
- Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and
supportive environment.
- Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with
others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and
collaborates with others to achieve goals.
- Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and
processes critically to make recommendations for improvement.
