Under the supervision of the Director of Literacy Education, the Part-Time Literacy Education Instructor is responsible for teaching and ensuring that proper procedures are followed and appropriate resources are available to meet the needs of each student in the Literacy Education Classroom. Examples of Duties
- Assist the literacy education program in meeting or exceeding state benchmark percentages for completion of Education Functional Levels (EFL), Measurable Skills Gains (MSG), Post-testing, and students obtaining and retaining employment.
- Assist students enter postsecondary education or job training
- Assist in recruiting for Halifax Community Colleges English as a Second Language Class, Halifax Community Colleges Literacy Education Class, and etc.
- Maintain students records and documents
- Meet classes as assigned by contract
- Use a variety of teaching and learning styles
- Take professional development trainings, webinars, meetings, seminars, and conferences
- Follow the North Carolina Community College System College and Career Readiness Adult Basic Education Content Standards and Benchmarks
- Excellent multitasking, time management and organizational skills
- Maintain weekly/monthly lesson plans
Minimum/Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Education or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience.
Language Skills: Effective written and verbal communication and collaboration skills required
Computer Skills: Have knowledge of: Email systems, Online system skills, Self-service Attendance, Google Apps, Microsoft Windows, Word processing software
