Subject area
Ecology and Evolution
The doctoral project will be conducted within the scope of the interdisciplinary project 'BALANCE wetlands - Bridging Actions for Lowering Atmospheric carbon emissions and Nurturing Conservation Efforts in Wetlands', funded by the Swedish Research Council Formas. The project group includes researchers within ecology, hydrology, and biogeochemistry. The research project aims to study how different objectives can be balanced during wetland restoration, where a key component involves monitoring large-scale restoration measures. The main focus of the PhD project is to investigate how restoration measures affect the abundance and diversity of insects and spiders, as well as studying underlying mechanisms such as oxygen deficiencies in wet soil. In addition, the PhD student will collaborate with other researcher to integrate biodiversity responses and changes in ecosystem processes such as hydrology and biogeochemistry.
