Offer Description
Testicular tumors are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms for which currently available biomarkers still show limited accuracy and sensitivity. Some miRNAs have demonstrated significant diagnostic potential in testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs); however, data on their expression profiles in serum and seminal plasma from patients with seminoma and non-germ cell tumors, such as Leydig cell tumors, are lacking. The first aim of this study is therefore to characterize the profile of small non-coding RNAs (miRNAs and piRNAs) in malignant and benign testicular tumors. Given the high curability of TGCTs, preservation of fertility represents an important clinical goal. Chemotherapy may induce persistent alterations in the sperm epigenome, including changes in miRNA and piRNA profiles. The second aim is to investigate chemotherapy-induced modulation of the sperm small non-coding RNA profile, identifying potential biomarkers of reproductive safety
