About the programme/project/undertaking
Title of programme/project/undertaking: Advancing Petri Net Theory: A Deeper understanding to Classical Problems and Integration into Workflow Applications
Type of programme/project/undertaking: Opus
Funding institution: National Science Centre, Poland
Duration of programme/project/undertaking: 16.01.2025 – 15.01.2029
Head of programme/project/undertaking: dr hab. Piotr Hofman
Description of programme/project/undertaking: The project combines two complementary goals. The first is to deepen the basic theory of Petri nets and counter systems, in particular to understand the problem of reachability and its complexity for natural subclasses. The second is to use modern methods of Petri net theory for problems arising in analysis of workflow and process mining. The project is therefore intended to create a two-way bridge between the theory of infinite-state systems and the formal analysis of business processes.
