Job OverviewThe Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites tenure-track or tenured candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor to apply for the Randall J. Allemang Endowed Professor position. The position benefits from a generous chair endowment and a competitive salary commensurate with candidate experience. Candidates will be considered in the broad areas of experimental testing, modeling and control of complex electro-mechanical systems, and structural dynamics and vibrations, spanning both analytical and experimental methods. Areas of research interest for this role include but are not limited to meta-structures and topological structures, lightweight and deployable space structures, additively manufactured structures for mitigation of vibration and impact effects, structural modeling, monitoring and control using artificial intelligence, battery free and ubiquitous vibration sensing. This position will benefit from the David L. Brown, PhD Memorial Endowment fund which will support scholarships, fellowships, travel and equipment purchases to enhance the research of the holder of the Endowed Professorship, and also from the Industry and Government Research Laboratory experience of many alumni and friends of the University of Cincinnati – Structural Dynamics Research Laboratory (UC-SDRL), established by the late Prof. Randall Allemang and Prof. David Brown, who are committed to supporting the successful candidate.
The College of Engineering and Applied Science at UC has pioneered mandatory cooperative experience for engineers since 1906 and has excellent connections with the industrial sector, both locally and nationally.
