Offer Description
This scientific-disciplinary field encompasses theoretical and applied studies, as well as the metalinguistic analysis of the French language and culture—including its various Francophone manifestations—across phonetic, prosodic, morphological, syntactic, lexical, terminological, textual, pragmatic, semantic, rhetorical, discursive, and sociolinguistic dimensions. These analyses are conducted from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives, including through contrastive approaches. The field covers the study of communicative productions and interactions-whether oral, written, multimodal, or multimedia—often within an interdisciplinary framework. It also includes research into the history of the French language, the linguistic theories developed within the French and Francophone sphere, and the scholars associated with them. Furthermore, the field encompasses studies on the acquisition and pedagogy of the French language (from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives), the dynamics of plurilingualism and language contact in Francophone contexts, and the language policies of France and other French-speaking countries
