🎓 What Are Research Positions?

Research positions in higher education represent dedicated roles focused on advancing knowledge through systematic investigation. In simple terms, a research position means working as a researcher to explore unanswered questions, collect data, and publish findings that contribute to fields like science, social sciences, or technology. These jobs differ from teaching roles by emphasizing original inquiry over instruction.

In Maun, research jobs have grown since the 1980s with the establishment of the University of Maun (UB) in 1982, initially prioritizing development studies amid post-independence needs. Today, they support national priorities such as health, environment, and innovation. For instance, researchers at UB's HIV/AIDS research labs analyze epidemiology data, informing public policy.
