🎓 What Does Adjunct Faculty Mean?

Adjunct faculty refers to part-time academic instructors hired on a temporary, contract basis to teach one or more courses at universities or colleges. Unlike full-time tenured professors, adjunct faculty members do not receive benefits like health insurance or retirement plans and often juggle multiple institutions to make a living. In Beni Suef Governorate, adjunct faculty play a vital role in addressing teaching shortages, particularly in burgeoning private universities amid the country's expanding higher education sector, which saw enrollment surpass 3.5 million students by 2023 according to Ministry of Higher Education data.
