🔬 What is a Research Professor?

A Research Professor, also known as a professorship dedicated to research (Professor-eh Pajoheshi in Persian), is a prestigious senior academic position emphasizing groundbreaking research over teaching duties. In Gilan, this role is integral to the higher education system managed by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT). Research Professors lead innovative projects, mentor graduate students, and publish in top-tier journals, contributing to Gilan's scientific advancement despite global challenges.

The meaning of Research Professor revolves around expertise in a specific field, driving knowledge creation. Unlike traditional professors who split time between lecturing and research, Research Professors in Gilan often allocate 70-80% of their time to lab work, fieldwork, or theoretical advancements, fostering national priorities like nanotechnology or biotechnology.
