🎓 What is a Professor of Practice?

A Professor of Practice, often abbreviated as Prof of Practice, is a specialized academic position designed for seasoned professionals who bring hands-on industry expertise into the classroom. Unlike traditional tenure-track professors who prioritize research publications, Professors of Practice focus on delivering practical, real-world knowledge to students. This role emphasizes teaching, mentoring, and fostering connections between academia and industry.

The term 'Professor of Practice' refers to educators whose primary value lies in their professional achievements outside universities, such as leadership in corporations, startups, or government. In higher education, they teach courses that prepare students for immediate workforce entry, often incorporating case studies, internships, and guest lectures from their networks.
