Understanding the Role of an Exam Supervisor

In higher education, an Exam Supervisor—often called an invigilator—plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of assessments. This position ensures that examinations are conducted fairly, securely, and in line with established protocols. Whether overseeing university finals or national entrance tests, Exam Supervisors prevent irregularities and create a conducive environment for candidates.

The meaning of Exam Supervisor revolves around supervision during exams, from setup to cleanup. In Cross River State, where education is highly competitive, this role is crucial amid ongoing efforts to curb exam malpractice, a persistent challenge highlighted in reports on exam fairness.

Key Responsibilities of Exam Supervisors

Exam Supervisors handle a range of duties to uphold standards:

• Verify candidate identities using ID cards or biometrics.
• Distribute and collect exam materials securely.
• Monitor the exam hall for cheating or disruptions.
