Dr Amelia Harray is a Senior Research Fellow in the UWA Medical School at the University of Western Australia. She is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Nutritionist with a PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics from Curtin University awarded in 2019. Her doctoral research examined healthy and sustainable dietary practices in Western Australian adults. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics (2011) and a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition) (2010), both from Curtin University. Harray serves as Founder and Director of the dietetic business Eat Sustainably and maintains affiliations as an Adjunct Research Fellow and sessional lecturer at Curtin University, as well as an Honorary Research Associate at The Kids Research Institute Australia.
Her research focuses on plastics and human health, plant-based diets, dietary assessment methodologies, and nutrition in paediatric diabetes management. She is an investigator on the Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health (PERTH) Trial at UWA Medical School, which evaluates health outcomes from reduced plastic chemical exposure via dietary intervention. Harray has secured over $8.9 million in competitive research funding, authored 23 peer-reviewed publications, and presented at numerous international and national conferences. She has lectured in dietetics and nutrition programs at Curtin University for 13 years and supervised multiple postgraduate and honours students. Her contributions include roles in clinical trials and capacity building in nutrition science.
