About Angus

Professor Angus Webb is a Professor in Hydrology and Water Resources in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, at the University of Melbourne. He holds a PhD in marine ecology, BSc (Hons), and BA. Having originally focused on marine systems, he transitioned to freshwater ecology, establishing himself as a leading quantitative ecologist in environmental hydrology and water resources. His research centers on addressing large-scale environmental challenges in freshwater systems through innovative monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive management techniques, particularly for environmental flows. With more than 15 years of expertise, he leads the monitoring, evaluation, and adaptive management program for environmental water deliveries in the Goulburn River under the Australian government’s Murray-Darling Basin Plan since 2014. He also directs the Mallee Regional Innovation Centre and serves as Discipline Leader in Environmental Hydrology and Water Resources.
