About Cadance

Dr. Cadance Lowell serves as Professor Emeritus of Agriculture in the Department of Agricultural and Life Sciences at Central State University, a land-grant institution in Wilberforce, Ohio. She formerly held the position of Chair of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and has had a distinguished career focused on advancing sustainable agriculture, particularly for small farms. Dr. Lowell taught courses in plant biology, weed science, and sustainable agriculture, contributing to the university's programs that integrate innovative farming practices with technology such as sensors. In 1992, she founded the annual Plant Extravaganza, an educational event providing hands-on experiences for students in plant sciences, initially with assistance from researcher Marcus Nagle. Her involvement extends to evaluating technologies like the Weed Seed Destroyer for weed control and developing the sustainable agriculture major through grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture via Ohio State University.
