About Eun-Jung

Professor Eun-Jung Holden serves as Professor of Digital Innovation in the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. She earned her BSc, MSc, and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Western Australia (UWA), where she began her academic career as an international student from South Korea in the 1980s and spent 38 years in research and teaching roles. Transitioning to geoscience applications in 2006, she established the Centre for Data-driven Geoscience at UWA, leading multi-disciplinary projects focused on end-user needs. Key collaborations included data fusion initiatives with Rio Tinto Iron Ore and the Blasthole Objective Logging Project, yielding deployable machine learning methods for stratigraphy and material analysis from drill hole data, along with three patent applications. Holden served as Inaugural Director of the UWA Data Institute from 2021 to 2022 and currently holds an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow position in UWA's School of Earth and Oceans.
