About Geoffrey
Professor Geoffrey L. Clarke is Professor Emeritus and Professor of Geosciences in the School of Geosciences, Faculty of Science, at the University of Sydney, where he has served since July 1990. He holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Melbourne and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Geology. Clarke has previously held the position of Head of the School of Geosciences and has taught geology courses, including coordinating Field Geology (GEOS3008) and supervising honours projects on topics such as meteorites. His career includes contributions to fieldwork in regions like central Australia and New Caledonia.
Clarke specializes in metamorphic petrology, granulites, eclogites, and geology. His research examines mineral equilibria, reaction textures, partial melting, and tectonic evolution through detailed petrological studies.
