About Jamshid
Professor Jamshid Aghaei holds a PhD in Power Systems Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (2009), an MSc in Power Systems Engineering from the same institution (2005), and a BSc in Power System Engineering from Power and Water University of Technology (2003). He is currently Professor of Engineering (Electrical) and Deputy Dean (Research) in the School of Engineering and Technology at Central Queensland University, a role he assumed in September 2023. His distinguished career includes serving as Professor of Smart Grids at Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Finland (2020-2023), Full Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor at Shiraz University of Technology, Iran (2010-2020), Visiting Research Fellow at NTNU, Norway (2017-2019), and research fellowships at the University of Wollongong, Australia (2013 and 2015). Professor Aghaei's research specializations cover renewable power systems operation, planning, and economics; smart grids and microgrids design, operation, and economics; integrated energy systems modeling and optimization; and applied artificial intelligence and optimization methods in power and energy system studies.
With more than 270 publications, his key contributions include highly cited papers such as 'Demand response in smart electricity grids equipped with renewable energy sources: A review' (2013), 'Improved particle swarm optimisation for multi-objective optimal power flow considering the cost, loss, emission and voltage stability index' (2012), 'Optimal Behavior of Electric Vehicle Parking Lots as Demand Response Aggregation Agents' (2016), 'A modified honey bee mating optimization algorithm for multiobjective placement of renewable energy resources' (2011), and 'Operation and planning of distribution networks with integration of renewable distributed generators considering uncertainties: A review' (2017). He has supervised over 50 master's students, 24 PhD students, and 2 postdoctoral researchers, and participated in around 20 national and international research projects. Among his honors are the Iran Nationwide Best Researcher Award in Engineering (2019), Young Investigator Award from IEEE-Iran Section (2017), International USERN Prize in Physical Sciences (2016), Best Paper Award at the International Symposium on Smart Electric Distribution Systems and Technologies (2015), and Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship (2015). He also holds editorial roles, including Editor for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid (since 2020) and Electric Power Systems Research (since 2023).
