Rate My Professor Keyuan Jiang

Dr. Jiang's research specializations encompass Medical/Health/Clinical Informatics, Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, Social Media Mining, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning. He serves as advisor and committee member on graduate theses, including works on recognizing health concepts in Twitter data using large language models and simulated fixed-wing aircraft attitude control using reinforcement learning. His key publications include 'Assessment of word embedding techniques for identification of personal experience tweets pertaining to medication uses' presented at the International Workshop on Health Intelligence (W3PHIAI 2019), a workshop of the 31st AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (pp. 45-55); 'Identifying personal health experience tweets with word embedding and LSTM neural network' in BMC Bioinformatics (2018, 19(Suppl 8):210); and 'A data-driven method of discovering misspellings of medication names on Twitter' at Medical Informatics Europe (MIE 2018, pp. 136-140). Dr. Jiang is recognized as an IEEE Senior Member in the Computer Society and Engineering in Biology and Medicine Society, and as an ACM Member. He has contributed to securing research funding, including Purdue's Seed for Success Acorn Awards in 2018 and 2024, and leads departmental efforts that supported Purdue University Northwest's redesignation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
