Rate My Professor Kristie Chavez

Dr. Chavez returned to Mississippi State University in March 2019 as an Assistant Clinical Professor in emergency medicine and has advanced to Associate Clinical Professor. In her role as Service Chief of the Emergency/ICU unit, she leads critical care services within the Animal Health Center. She is dedicated to student development, advising on presentations such as case reports and leading organizations like the Student Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Her exemplary service was honored with the Pegasus Faculty Award for Service at the College of Veterinary Medicine Awards Day. Additionally, Dr. Chavez co-authored the article 'Equipping veterinary students to be successful in rural mixed animal practice' in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association in 2025, addressing preparation for rural veterinary shortages. Through her clinical leadership, teaching, and service, Dr. Chavez enhances veterinary education and emergency care practices.
