About Lin
Dr. Lin Mi is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the UQ Business School, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, University of Queensland. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in 2016 from the University of Queensland, with a thesis entitled "Real estate volatility index and its economic significance" completed at the UQ Business School. She also holds a Masters (Coursework) of Commerce and a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Queensland. Her research interests center on corporate finance, real estate finance, and sustainable finance, exploring areas such as climate risk, payout policies, capital structures, institutional ownership, and real estate market volatility.
Dr. Mi has made notable contributions to finance scholarship through publications in high-impact journals. Select works include "Climate risk and payout flexibility around the world" (Journal of Banking & Finance, 2024, with Yuyuan Chang and Wen He), "Institutional investors’ horizon and equity-financed payouts" (Journal of Banking & Finance, 2022, with Wen He), "How stable are corporate capital structures? International evidence" (Journal of Banking & Finance, 2021, with Wen He, Maggie Rong Hu, and Jin Yu), "Real estate's information and volatility links with stock, bond and money markets" (Accounting & Finance, 2018, with Allan Hodgson), "A specialised volatility index for the new GICS sector - real estate" (Economic Modelling, 2017, with Karen Benson and Robert Faff), and "Further evidence on idiosyncratic risk and REIT pricing: a cross-country analysis" (Accounting Research Journal, 2016, with Karen Benson and Robert Faff). She obtained funding from the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand for the project "Institutional ownership and equity-financed payout" (2019–2020). Dr. Mi supervises PhD students on topics including IPO pricing mechanisms and ESG controversies' effects on labour investment efficiency.
