Masahiko Yamazaki is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the College of Science and Technology, Nihon University. His research focuses on aerospace engineering topics including the dynamics and deployment of large membrane space structures, data-driven modeling for spin-deployable membranes, similarity rules for deployment behavior, and the development of CubeSat demonstrators for space verification of multifunctional structures and systems. He has contributed to projects involving origami-inspired CubeSats, hands-on space systems engineering education using training kits such as HEPTA-Sat, and model-based systems engineering approaches.
Yamazaki has served as Principal Investigator on multiple KAKENHI-funded projects related to shape and dynamics estimation of deployable space structures and the creation of international programs integrating space systems engineering education. His publications include peer-reviewed papers on topics such as empirical data-driven models for sail membrane dynamics, verification of similarity rules for spin deployment membranes, and CubeSat kit-based hands-on education programs. He is involved in supervising educational initiatives and collaborative research in space engineering.
