Her research specializations include medical textiles, polymeric nano drug delivery systems, nanofibers, natural fibers, biomaterials and fiber science, and tissue engineering. She has contributed key publications such as "Okra Plant: A Multi-purpose Underutilized Vegetable Crop" (2021), "Effect of Okra Plant Lifespan upon Optical Properties of Okra Fibers" (2022), and "Potential of Okra for Application in Textiles: A Review". With an h-index of 8 and 224 citations, her work advances sustainable and biomedical textile applications. Patra joined Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya as Assistant Professor in 2016 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022. She has earned awards including the IEI Young Engineers Award 2018-19 in Textile Engineering, Indo Thai Academic Award 2019 as Young Scientist, SERB International Travel Grant 2016, and Young Scientist of the Year 2014.
