Dr. Pasebani founded and directs the Metal Additive and Gradient Microstructure Alloys (MAGMA) Laboratory, also known as the Powder Metallurgy Additive Manufacturing (PMAM) Laboratory, located at the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI). Her research focuses on alloy development for laser-based additive manufacturing processes, including selective laser melting, powder bed fusion, wire- and powder-fed laser directed energy deposition, multi-material systems, compositionally graded alloys, and high-temperature alloys for extreme environments and energy applications. She has authored or co-authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and holds a patent titled “Oxide dispersion hardened stainless steel composition and method of making” (U.S. Appl. No. 62/722,363, 2018). Her research has attracted over $27 million in total funding from federal agencies such as NSF, ONR, AFRL, and DOE, as well as industry partners, with more than $8 million as principal investigator or co-principal investigator. Dr. Pasebani is the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award (2024, five-year, $756,000 grant to develop strategies for multimetal additive manufacturing), ASTM Young Professional Award, ASME Rising Star Award, TMS Young Professional Award in Manufacturing, and Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). She collaborates with national laboratories, universities, and regional partners including the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC), ATI, and HP, advancing data-driven alloy design and manufacturing innovations for aerospace, defense, energy, and biomedical sectors.
