About Will

Will Holliday is Associate Professor of Latin American History in the Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy at Longwood University. He earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Kansas in 2004, with a dissertation titled 'A Fluid Society: Water and Power in Colonial Cochabamba, 1538-1800.' His research focuses on colonial Latin America, particularly economic history, commodity chains, and transatlantic trade. Holliday received a Longwood University Faculty Research Grant in summer 2011 to investigate the complex commodity chains linking Valencian silk producers to consumers in Spain's American colonies. This project involved archival research in Valencia and the Archivo General de Indias in Seville, Spain. He published an article titled 'The Silk Merchant of Cádiz: Changing Markets, Trust, and Risk in the Spanish Atlantic' in the Colonial Latin American Historical Review. Additionally, he co-authored 'Designing Programs to Foster Intercultural Competence through Interdisciplinary Study Abroad' with Lily Anne Goetz in 2017, detailing their collaborative program.
