Liu earned her PhD from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore in 2010. She commenced her career at the University of Melbourne as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering in 2015, progressing to Senior Lecturer and then Associate Professor. With more than 15 years of experience in structural engineering, her contributions have attracted grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research Program of China, and the National University of Singapore.
