Offer Description
Jagiellonian University announces a selection procedure for the position of an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/post-doc in project titled "(Re-)framing industrial heritage in East Germany and Poland: actors, processes and practices of heritagisation in a comparative perspective (1989-2020s)" ((NCN, Weave-UNISONO).
The project examines how industrial heritage was created, negotiated and used in Poland and East Germany during the post-socialist transformation. The project is carried out by a consortium of Polish and German institutions. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for carrying out a study aimed at explaining how models and practices of industrial heritage-making developed within Western European heritage networks and centres were adopted, negotiated and transformed during the establishment and development of the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship and its integration into the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH). The study will also examine how the institutional and social actors participating in these processes influenced the selection, interpretation and use of the industrial past, as well as the construction of its local, regional and European meanings. The research will take the form of a qualitative case study combining historical and institutional analysis with multi-sited fieldwork. The project is co-funded by the National Science Centre (NCN, Poland) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).
