Boston College (BC), a prestigious private Jesuit university located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, considers SAT scores as a significant component of its admissions process. While academic performance, extracurricular activities, and personal essays are crucial, SAT scores provide a standardized measure to assess a student’s readiness for the rigorous curriculum at Boston College. For prospective students aiming to join BC, understanding the expected SAT score ranges and policies can help in crafting a competitive application to this highly selective institution.

SAT Score Ranges for Admitted Students:

Score Range: 1460–1580 (based on recent admissions data for the middle 50% of admitted students)
Average Score: Approximately 1520, reflecting the competitive nature of Boston College (BC) admissions
75th Percentile: Around 1580, indicating that top applicants often score near or above this threshold

Key Points:

SAT or ACT scores are currently test-optional at Boston College (BC) due to evolving admissions policies, though submitting strong scores can enhance an application.
Scores are evaluated as part of a holistic review process at BC, alongside grades, essays, and other achievements, rather than as a strict cutoff.
Boston College practices superscoring for SAT scores, meaning they consider the highest section scores across multiple test dates to form a composite score.
Alternatives such as Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) results may be considered to demonstrate academic strength, especially if test scores are not submitted.
Applicants are encouraged to aim for SAT scores above 1460, ideally closer to 1520 or higher, to align with the average admitted student profile at Boston College.
