ISU SAT Scores

SAT Score Ranges for Admitted Students:

• Score Range: 1000–1200 (based on the combined Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math sections)
• Average Score: Approximately 1100 for recently admitted students at Illinois State University
• 75th Percentile: Around 1200, meaning top applicants often score at or above this threshold

Key Points:

• SAT or ACT scores are currently optional for admission to Illinois State University due to test-optional policies; however, submitting scores can strengthen an application.
• ISU evaluates SAT scores as part of a holistic review, considering them alongside GPA and other academic indicators rather than strict cutoffs.
• Illinois State University practices superscoring, combining the highest section scores from multiple SAT test dates to create the best possible composite score.
• Alternatives such as Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores may be considered to demonstrate college readiness if SAT scores are not submitted.
• Prospective students are encouraged to aim for an SAT score of at least 1100–1200 to align with the average and upper percentile of admitted students at ISU.
